 FAQ

Dear Nobles,

Please find in the enclosed mailing all information for 2008 CSASMC Competition and Awards Banquet consisting of:

1. Schedule of Events
2. Awards information and reservation form
3. Competition registration form

As discussed at our recent Mid Winter Meetings, the President of  CSSA Dean Taylor, has extended an invitation to all Texas Shrine Temples to attend CSSA in Oklahoma City and participate in all activities including Competition. We have verbal commitments from six Units and that could increase to twelve or more. I ask that all Units please register for Competition and submit banquet reservations as soon as possible. The deadline for Competition registration is August16. Classes will be consolidated on August 17 so trophies may be ordered on August 18. Any Unit that registers for Competition after August 16 will still be allowed to compete and will be scheduled for later times if time allows.

All banquet reservations must be made with President Jim Tracy no later than August 18. All seating will be assigned with Units seated together if all Unit reservations are made on the same form.

Competition set up will be Thursday August 28 at 8:00 AM at the Fairgrounds located at 3001 General Pershing Drive.

The Fall meeting will be held on Thursday August 28 at 3:30 PM at the India Shrine Center located at 3601 NW 36 Street. It is imperative that a representative from each competing Unit attend this meeting as all Competition times and information on Competition and parking will be given. All Awards Banquet tickets will be available at this meeting.

Competition will be at the Fairgrounds on Friday August 29 and will begin at 7:30 AM. Any Unit competing in Obstacle Course is asked to report to your course as early as possible. The Motorcycle Show Competition will be held immediately following Competitive Drill. This will allow those in Competitive Drill to also participate in the Show Bike Competition.

The Awards Banquet will be held Friday August 29 at the Clarion Meridian Convention Center located at the intersection of I- 40 and Meridian Ave, 737 South Meridian Ave. This facility has a maximum capacity of 724 people and was chosen because they offer and buffet style banquet for only $23.50 per person and have free parking. The Cox Convention Center offered the same exact dinner for $37.00 per person and offered limited parking for a nominal fee. A social hour will begin at 5:30 PM. The Awards Banquet will be a buffet style dinner with 12 serving lines to expedite the serving time. The cost is $23.50 per person and the menu is on the enclosed Banquet Reservation Form. Units are requested to send one form for the Unit consolidating all ticket requests along with a check made out to the President Jim Tracy. Seating assignments will be made by Units and tickets will be available for pick up at the Thursday meeting. Checks need to be received by President Jim Tracy no later than August 18 to give the facility a count on the number of meals. A pre-addressed envelope to President Tracy is enclosed for your banquet reservations.

All Units who desire to enter Competition of any form must be in good standing with dues paid to CSASMC. Registration for Competitive Drill, Obstacle Course, Show Car, or Show Bike Competition must be made with the Secretary no later than August16 on the enclosed registration form. Classes will be consolidate and trophies ordered on August 18. Any Unit registering late will still be able to compete, but it may be in a consolidated class and their times will be scheduled at the end of Competition if there is time. Registration Forms may be sent to the Secretary by regular mail, by fax or email. A return reply will be sent verifying your registration if a name and address is provided. If you do not receive a return reply within a few days, contact the Secretary to be sure it was received.

If any Unit has any questions, please don't hesitate to contact me or President Jim Tracy

Fraternally yours,

Bradley Waite
Sec.-Treas. CSASMC
