JUNE 22, 2003
Branson, Missouri

June 22, 2003

Dear Nobles,

Please find in the enclosed mailing all information for CSASMC Competition and Awards Banquet in Branson, Missouri consisting of:

1.  Schedule of Events
2.  Awards Banquet information and reservation form
3.  Rule Changes
4.  Competition registration form

Competition will be held at WhiteWater Parking lot.  We will be setting up the Fields at 7:00AM on Thursday Sept. 4th, and anyone is welcome to come out and lend a hand.

Nobles, it is imperative that a representative from your unit be present at The Fall Meeting on Thursday Sept. 4th, at 3:00PM, which will be held at the (SLEEP INN? or Settle Inn?) located on Wildwood Drive, just south of Green Mountain Drive on the yellow bypass route.  Last year in Omaha, we had a record number of Units in Competition and we did not finish Competition until 3:00PM.  There is a good possibility that our numbers in Branson could exceed those in Omaha and we may have to start Competition as early as 7:00AM..  President Chuck Petersen will make all the field and time assignments for all Units in Competition after the Competition registration deadline.  These times will be announced at the Meeting.  Awards Banquet tickets will be available at this meeting and we urge that you pick them up at the Meeting.

All units who desire to enter Competitive Drill, Obstacle Course, or Show Car Competition, must register with the Secretary no later than August 22 on the enclosed form.  Registration forms may be sent by regular mail (snail mail) or faxed to confirm that your registration has been received.

Banquet reservations will be taken by President Chuck Petersen.  All who desire to attend the Awards Banquet should make their reservations with President Petersen no later than August 22.  Please make all reservations on the enclosed form.  A pre-addressed reply envelope has been enclosed for your convenience.  If anyone has a need for a vegetarian entree or a children's menu, please contact President Chuck Petersen for menu choice and cost.  The Awards Banquet will be held at The Chateau on the Lake.  Social hour (cash bar) will begin at 5:00PM., dinner at 6:30PM..  We have a room reserved that will accommodate 1200 people.  This room can be expanded to 3000 people if needed, but the hotel requires that any change in size must be made by August 25.  Also, President Petersen will be leaving Denver for Branson on August 27, so he must have all reservation before he leaves.

Fraternally yours,

Bradley Waite

Mid-Winter C.S.A.S.M.C.  Meeting April 12th, 2003

Dear Noble,                                                April 30, 2003

The CSASMC Mid-Winter Meeting was held on April 12 and the following subjects were discussed and voted on.

1.  Branson:

Believe it or not, there is some flat land in Branson Missouri.  President Chuck Petersen, along with the Branson Committee has made arrangements to use the parking lots at Whitewater for our Competition.

The lots are flat, but the width of the lots are only 128 feet.  It was decided to change the size of the Competitive Drill fields from 150'x300' to 120'x240'.  Since the fields have to be smaller, it was also decided to change the time allowed on the fields from 5-10 minutes to 4-8 minutes.

The Fall Meeting will be held Thursday afternoon at the Settle Inn and the Awards Banquet will be at the Chateau on the Lake.  President Petersen has contracted with the Chateau for a banquet room that will hold 1200 people with a cost around $25.00 per person.

2.  Show Car Competition:

In Show Car Competition, all Units paraded before a judge and the best Parade unit was awarded a traveling trophy.  It was decided to completely eliminate the parade portion of their Competition and award the Clifford Hansford Best Parade Trophy to the Unit with the highest overall score including bonus points.

3.  Motorcycle Show:

Last year in Omaha a Motorcycle Show Class was created on a trial basis to see if there was any interest.  There were several participants and 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place trophies were awarded.  It was decided to continue the Motorcycle Show Class as in Omaha, and if participation increases, then consideration will be given to having classifications for the different types of Show Motorcycles.

President Petersen noted that we are still looking and considering replacing the existing equipment trailer.  The existing trailer is filled to capacity and a replacement trailer needs to be purchased in the near future that will be capable of holding the weight of the existing equipment plus additional equipment as needed.  The trailer also needs to be funded before purchase.  Illustrious Sir Dub Garner, Past President of IASMC, who each year makes the trip from Waco, Texas to every CSASMC Competition to help judge our Competition, suggested that we try what Texas Motor Corp and the International Motor Corp did when they needed a new trailer, ask the Units to contribute $100.00 each for a trailer fund.  Noble Dub then gave the Secretary $100 to start such a fund.  Noble Randy Heckert of the Tangier Nomads said he would donate a plaque with the names of the contributors to be mounted on the door of the new trailer, for recognition.  The following Units generously gave the following contributions:

Dub Garner                           $100
Tangier Nomads                    $100
Tangier Motor B Patrol         $100
Sesostris Harleys                  $100
Midian Classics                    $100
Ararat Motor Corp                $100
IASMC                                 $100
Midian Motor Patrol             $100
Moolah Gateway 500           $100
Sesostris Motor Corp 400    $100
El Kahir Kruzers                  $100
India Motor Corp                 $100
India Broncos                       $100
Tangier Vintage Iron            $200

Any Unit who would like to donate to the trailer fund, please send your contribution to the Secretary.

Election of Officers was held and the following Nobles were elected:
President                    Charles Petersen (El Jebel)
1st Vice President      Darrell David (India)
2nd Vice President     Bob Sides (Sesostris)
3rd Vice President     Ron Boese (Midian)
4th Vice President     Gene Doser (India)
Sgt-at-Arms               James Tracy (Moolah)

Another mailing will be sent to all member Units at the end of June.  This will include all information on Competition in Branson along with the rule changes and an updated list of the trailer fund contributors.

January 10,2003

Dear Noble:

Enclosed you will find the necessary form to be filled out for membership in CSASMC for 2003.  Please be aware that a new By-Law was passed at the 1998 Mid-Winter Meeting concerning dues.  Article II, Section 2 now reads:  The annual dues of this Association shall be $8.00 per member, per year and shall not exceed a maximum of 25 members, (25X8=$200.) regardless of the number of members in the unit or club, and are due January 1st each year and shall be paid into the treasury of this Association on or before March 1st of each year.  Dues of members shall become delinquent March 1st and shall become $9.00 per member (25X9= $225).  In other words, if your unit or club has more than 25 members, you only pay the dues amount for 25 members, but you still need to list all members on the dues remittance sheet so you can receive dues cards for all members.  Please send me any names of new members to your unit or club throughout the year even if you exceed the 25 member dues cap.  All participants in any form of competition MUST have a current dues card.  If your new membership brings your unit or club beyond the 25 member dues cap, you will not be required to send dues for those new members, beyond the 25 member cap.  Please also be aware that you need to pay dues for all members of your unit, not just those attending CSSA, until you reach the 25 member cap.

All communication will be mailed to the Officer in Charge and the Secretary of each unit, unless otherwise noted on the form.  Please print or type all information on the enclosed form or attach a current roster of your unit.  Also note on the new dues form that only the Officers addresses and phone numbers are required.  There is no need to list the addresses of your members, just their names.

The CSASMC 2003 Mid-Winter Meeting will be April 11-12 in Lincoln, Nebraska.  I have included in this mailing some information on some items that will be discussed and voted on by the members.  More information on the Mid-Winter Meeting will be mailed to all Units in February.

January 10, 2003

Dear Noble,

The 2003 CSASMC Mid-Winter Meeting will be on April 11-12 in Lincoln, NE.  There will be some topics discussed and voted on at this meeting, that the Unit members need to know about BEFORE the meeting so your Unit can have time to discuss the issues and have your Representative vote as your Unit desires on each subject.

Item # 1:  Branson, Missouri

In 1998, CSSA in Branson was a disaster for the Motor Corp.  The Competition Fields were inadequate and in poor shape.  We were required to hold our Awards Banquet at the location obtained by their agents and it also was a mess.  The Branson Committee also did not keep their promises to have the Competition area swept, to have portable restrooms at the site, failed to have emergency medical personal on location, and the judges that they insisted on furnishing never showed up.  Last March, at the CSSA Mid-Winter Meeting in St. Joseph, MO., President Cliff Boyer asked if any of the Associations would like to come to the podium and address the Representative.  I took this opportunity to inform all present of the problems we had with the CSSA Officers most especially Branson.  Since that time, 1st Vice-President Chuck Petersen has made several trips to Branson to meet with their committees and inspect several sites for Competition and the Awards Banquet.  He has made arrangements with the Chateau on the Lake for the Awards Banquet in a facility that that can hold up to 2000 people at a price of $25.00 per person.  The Branson Committee has obtained the parking lots at Whitewater for our Competition.  The lot are fairly flat, but only 135' in width.  In 1998 the Competition Fields were reduced from 150'x300' to 120'x240'.  We need to discuss and vote on the size of the fields and what effect it will have on different types of vehicles.

Item #2:  Show Car Competition Parade

Last year in Omaha, the Show Car Competition Parade was taken out of their Competition.  We usually have had 90 to 100 cars registered for Competition.  Last year we had 157 cars registered.  It would have taken over ten (10) hours to judge and parade that many vehicles.  President Jerry Ritchey decided that in order to keep the Show Car Competition within a 6-7 hour time frame that we would have to eliminate the Parade portion of their Competition and use that personnel as a second set of judges that would judge the Mustang and Convertible Classes.

There will be discussion and a vote taken as how to proceed with this possible problem in the future, and if we discontinue the Parade portion of Competition, how shall we award the Traveling Trophy.

Item #3:  Possible change in Awards Banquet to Saturday Nights

At the Executive Board Meeting in Omaha, representatives of the Assistant Rabans of each Shrine Temple in CSSA asked that the members of the Motor Corp to consider changing our Awards Banquet to Saturday night instead of Friday after Competition.  They informed us that they have seen a steady increase in the number of Nobles leaving CSSA after the parade on Saturday and not staying over on Saturday night.  They made a request that we discuss this with our members, that if the Awards Banquet were moved to Saturday night if it would encourage more people to stay.  We must also consider that if a move to Saturday night were made, would it have an adverse effect on the current attendance at the Awards Banquet and what effect it might have on other Associations that already have their Banquets on Saturday night.  We will have discussion and a vote taken for any change in the Awards Banquet.  Please keep in mind that 1st Vice-President Chuck Petersen has a contract for a Friday Awards Banquet in Branson, 2nd Vice-President Darrell David has made arrangement for a Friday Banquet in Des Moines in 2004, and 3rd Vice-President Bob Sides has had discussions with the Overland Park Committee for a Friday night Awards Banquet in 2004.  Any change in made probably will not take effect until 2005.

Item #4:  Motor Corp Shirts

At the 2002 CSASMC Mid-Winter Meeting, we had some discussion on the replacement of our current equipment trailer.  The overloading of weight capacity has taken a toll on the trailer and the repairs seem to be never ending.  We will need to replace the trailer in the very near future and we need to look at ways of funding its replacement without raising dues.  It was decided that we could have shirts made with the Motor Corp Wings embroidered and sell them to our members for possible parade and or Competition shirts, and $3.00 for each shirt be set aside for supplementing the cost of a new trailer.  These shirts are now available and information on them is included in this mailing.  Any other discussion or suggestions for funding of a new trailer will be welcome at this meeting.

Item #5:  Assignment of Field Times verses Drawing for Position at the Mid-Winter Meeting and drawing of times at the Fall Meeting.

The By-Laws of CSASMC call for the drawing of Field position at the Mid-Winter Meeting and for the drawing of times on the fields at the Fall Meeting.  Every year, the President has had to make some changes to the drawings to balance out the two Drill Fields.  The last two years, with the vote of members, the President has been allowed to assign the fields and times on the two Drill Fields and position of judging for Show Car Competition.  The assignments in the Drill Fields have been made to have the classes with the most vehicles on the fields first.  This has allowed the larger Units to get to the Obstacle Course at 1:00.  It also allows time to make copies of the field and time assignments to be passed out at the Fall Meeting.  A By-Law proposal has been made to eliminate the drawing of positions and times and add to the duties of President the assignment of fields and times.  This proposal will be read and voted on at the Mid-Winter Meeting.

Item, #6:  Motorcycle Show

A suggestion was made at the 2002 Mid-Winter Meeting that we consider having some type of Competition for Show Motorcycles, similar to the Show Car Competition.  A Motorcycle Show class was created and vehicles were shown in Omaha on an experimental basis.  Several bikes were entered and awards were presented to 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners.  There will be a lot of discussion on this new class and if anyone has any suggestions on classification and judging, please bring it to the Meeting.
